Intro – 1

The Birdies are a people whose individuals have masks on their faces. Birdsland is the country where most of the Birdies live.

Newcomers to Birdsland are often very curious about the face under the mask, which has been making kind-hearted Birdies think about how to tell them that the ‘mask’ is an undividable part of their face without causing disappointment. They can’t really take it off. Their mask face is closely relevant to why they are called the Birdies. Some non-Birdies associate the mask face with a plague doctor, while some simply feel that it resembles a beak. Another reason that got them this name is their strolling. The Birdies are in general calm, they talk occasionally and spend their days strolling around, as if they were wandering clouds or trekking birds. Before Birdsland were widely known, the Birdies had already been walking in places where they could blend in.

Initially, all Birdies wandered freely until Birdian explorers walking in different directions continuously encountered non-Birdian residents and no longer met Birdian residents. These explorers shared this information during the walking festival of that season. This discovery immediately became the breaking news in Birdsland. The enthusiastic Birdian strollers soon published Walking Guide for Birdies which in the same month of its release became the best known Birdian classic and open source intelligence only second to The Birdian Dictionary. Since then, Birdies with distinctive appearances and those who are not adept at disguising themselves tend to stay within areas inhabited only by the Birdies, while Birdies with appearances similar to non-Birdies and those who enjoy makeup and disguises have started their journeys.

Birdies usually don’t make plans as they don’t have to rush. They don’t walk in large groups but promenade at their own pace, sometimes alone and sometimes accompanied. Birdian wanderers usually stay in close touch with each other. This comes from another enjoyment of the Birdies: conversations. The Birdies have long loved tea parties. In Birdsland, public tea parties are held every season. For Birdian wanderers, the most common ones are Birdian Wanderers’ Storytelling Gathering and Birdian Wanderers’ Music Festival. During the tea parties, they share their experiences from their journeys, mainly fun events and tales, poetry and music. The duration of the gatherings is not planned and usually depends on how much they have to share. After sharing, they exchange their insights. After the party, the ones who return home will bring these stories and ideas back to Birdsland.
