Many Birdies believe that it is pure coincidence that makes every moment of the present the moment it is.

也许有一个偏差或者变异，他们便不是此刻互相交谈的各位。其中的乐观者认为也许一连串误差有可能会把事件的发展带回他们正在经历的分秒。
The individuals they are could have never existed merely because of random minor mutation. The conversations they have could have been disrupted by deviation at any point of the past. Some of them optimistically believe that perhaps a series of variations might bring the course of events back on the track to their present.

他们聊天的话题像是追寻着某种洋流，来自非鸟人的热点新闻，家乡的讯息，自然环境的触动，其他的偶发事件。这些话题常换常新，又接续着过去的对话。周游之中的人也像是追寻着某种洋流，偶尔反复地聚散分合。鸟人们对相遇抱着浪漫的印象，但这不代表他们认为相遇总是美好的。有些相遇让他们停留，有些让他们离开，有些给他们的生命意义，有些成为他们回头的理由。如此多的失控的偶然引向此刻正发生着的现实，这对鸟人们来说真是奇妙的魔力，使他们不断地产生兴趣和疑惑。
The topics of their conversations seem to follow certain ocean currents. They come from the latest news from non-Birdian countries, messages from home, inspirations from the nature and other spontaneous encounters. These topics constantly change yet continue the previous dialogues. People in their journeys also seem to follow certain ocean currents, occasionally and repetitively meeting and parting. Birdies have a romantic impression of encounters, but they don’t necessarily believe that every encounter is wonderful. Encounters make them stay, leave, pause and return. So many coincidences beyond control lead to the reality at present. This arbitrariness is purely magical for the Birdies and keeps them pondering.

在离开鸟人国之前这个问题离他们相对遥远。鸟人国不大，人口很有限，公共活动的空间集中在国度中心。国内的鸟人们时常碰面。相遇并不稀奇，如果不是理所应当。不见反而显得困难。离开鸟人国之后，周游没有边界，没有绝对的方向，鸟人们能扮演的身份没有限制，种种可能仅仅取决于他们在决定时刻的感受。
Before leaving Birdsland, thoughts around encounters were not close to their mind if not far from. Birdsland is a small country with a limited population. Most of its public life takes place in its centre. Birdies often meet up with each other. Encounters aren’t rare there at all; in fact, it is quite expected. On the contrary, it is often considered difficult to not encounter someone. After leaving Birdsland, there is no limit to their journeys, no absolute direction that they follow, no identity they can’t perform. All these possibilities depend solely on how they feel at the moment of decision.

一个鸟人谈起遇见不同人的感受。他喜欢不同人带来的新鲜感。了解这些人们的故事让他感到自己浅浅经历了不同的人生。这些人让他看见生活的不同和可能。
One Birdie began to talk about their feelings of meeting with different people. They enjoyed the sparks brought by these encounters. Knowing the people’s stories made them feel as if they had a taste of different lives. These people showed them the difference and possibilities of life.

另一个鸟人说这些相遇丰富了他的感受。他发現自己的情感，想象，价值观的光谱被点亮和延展了。他的散步变成行走，他越来越清楚自己的兴趣，开始有探索的方向，有新的好奇。
Another Birdie said that these encounters enriched their experiences. They found that the spectrum of their emotions, imagination and values was illuminated and extended through their journey. They became more conscious of their steps and interests and started to explore with purposes and renewed curiosity.

一个鸟人希望有些相遇并未发生。这些遭遇迫使他提早变装消失。他发觉并不是所有分歧都能共存。也许不相遇，矛盾就可以避免了。
One Birdie wished some encounters didn’t happen. The Birdie had to change their disguise and leave these people. They realised that not all differences could coexist. Perhaps conflicts could have been avoided if there weren’t encounters.

另一个鸟人回想在鸟人国的相遇。如果鸟人国的人更少，土地更广阔，或许相遇会不那么容易吧。事实上，他们只能遇见与自己生活在同时代的人们。对于曾经存在过的和未来将存在的人们，他们只能错过。这样想着，他感到相遇本身带有一种宝贵的美。
Another Birdie reflected on encounters in Birdsland. If there were fewer people and vaster lands, encounters might not have been so easy. Actually, they could only meet people who lived in the same era as themselves. For those who lived in the past or would live in the future, they could only miss each other. With this in mind, the Birdie felt that encounters possessed a beauty of preciousness.

一个鸟人提醒说很难确定相遇是否常是想象中这样美丽。许多鸟人选择待在鸟人国不外出，《鸟人散步指南》的大受欢迎，周游鸟人隐藏身份，都是为了避开鸟人与非鸟人相遇。如果相遇真是浪漫而美好的，又有谁会需要这些？
One Birdie reminded their friends that encounters might not always be as beautiful as imagined. The facts were that many Birdies chose to stay only in Birdsland and Walking Guide for Birdies was one of the most popular. And none of the Birdian wanderers were not in disguise. These were all to prevent encounters between Birdies and non-Birdies. If encounters were truly romantic and wonderful, who would need these?

Another Birdie agreed that encounters could be wonderful but also believed that encounters should not be romanticised. They thought that encounters were dynamic; even meeting the same person on different occasions could feel different.

一个鸟人提问为什么鸟人们不在鸟人国以外的地方以真面目待人。他自问自答，说是因为不想被当作完全的外来人或者异类。他在历史中看见各种人群的争端，而他只想在周游中享受乐趣，不想卷入任何关于资源或者权力的争夺。并且周游鸟人的暴露会导致鸟人国的暴露，鸟人国内的生活很可能会受影响。他出于自己的好奇出来周游，绝不希望给选择在家乡隐居的人带来困扰，于是一定会好好隐藏自己的鸟人身份。
One Birdie asked why Birdies never revealed their true faces outside Birdsland. For this Birdie, it was because they didn’t want to be seen as complete outsiders or pagans. They had seen various conflicts among different groups throughout history, and they had no interest in involving in any competition over resources or power. They only wanted to enjoy the pleasure of their journey. Also the exposure of the identity of Birdian wanderers could lead to the exposure of Birdsland, potentially affecting life within the country. The Birdie went on their journey to satisfy their curiosity but never wished to cause any disturbance to life at home, so they would definitely hide their Birdian identity.

另一个鸟人说确实如此。他有时反思鸟人的隐瞒，感到不真诚并且自私，有愧于他人。但他同样不愿意让什么都没做的家乡人承担他的旅行带来的后果。他觉得鸟人并没有从外界夺取物资，也没有影响非鸟人世界的秩序，虽然确实是带走了一些在鸟人社会中有可能长久受用的文艺成果。另外，他的周游不伤害任何人。也许分别对一些人来说是一种伤害，但没有什么互动是完全无害的吧。这是他在相遇之中找到的平衡。
Another Birdie could relate to this opinion. Sometimes they reflected on their concealment and felt that they were not sincere and somewhat selfish, thus felt guilty towards others. However, they also never wanted the innocent people back home to suffer any consequences brought by their journey. They believed that the Birdies didn’t take much from the world outside Birdsland, neither did they disrupt the order of non-Birdian societies, even though they did take away some artistic achievements, such as stories and music which could have long-lasting benefits to Birdsland. But still, after all, their journey did not harm anyone. Perhaps parting might hurt some people. But no interaction was entirely painless. This was their balance in encounters.

一个鸟人说在个体之间，越是具体的两者的相遇，越依靠运气；在群体之间，越是庞大的集团的相遇，越趋近必然。在技术条件达成时，集体总会相遇。相遇后的交流和冲突又促进技术发展。但这是宏观来看的趋势，实际过程会反复曲折许多。
One Birdie said that between individuals, the more specific the individuals were, the more their encounter depended on luck; between collectives, the larger the collectives were, the more inevitable their encounter was. Collectives were bound to meet when technological conditions were met. After encountering, exchange and competition between them would promote the technological developments which enhanced this circulation. The Birdie admitted this was quite summed up and the actual process was much more complicated and twisted.

Another Birdie said that encounters were always inevitable. Ever since the universe was no longer composed of singular entities, encounters occured unconsciously. However, people’s ability to perceive and deal with encounters had a limit. Sometimes the Birdie didn’t really know how to respond to the people and things they encountered. They could be unsure about how to express their curiosity appropriately without unintentionally offending someone. They could not guarantee that every encounter would be pleasant. But the only thing they could do was to keep encountering.

One Birdie asked if the inevitability of encounters made encounters right.

Another Birdy answered that encounters themselves were neither right nor wrong. The fact was that many things, not just encounters, could be both good and bad rather than simply black or white.

One Birdie asked if there were people who would never encounter each other.

Another Birdie answered that it was impossible to encounter people who had already disappeared, at least not with the current technology.

The Birdie questioned that how something could be absolutely certain if it was only true with premises. Were people who only existed in memories defined as disappeared? Could someone encounter persons who were hidden in our hearts?

关于内心世界的问题，鸟人们没有答案。
Birdies didn’t have an answer regarding the inner world.
